January 30, 2017 — Coverage of Trump

NYT: Trump Fires Acting Attorney General Who Defied Him [“President Trump fired his acting attorney general on Monday night, removing her as the nation’s top law enforcement officer after she defiantly refused to defend his executive order closing the nation’s borders to refugees and people from predominantly Muslim countries.”] All outlets had this as a top story of the day.
WP: Trump wants to scrap two regulations for each new one adopted
NPR: Protests Over Immigration Executive Order Expand Across The Country
CNN: Trump signs executive order to keep out ‘radical Islamic terrorists’

January 30, 2021 — Coverage of Biden

NYT: Copying Roosevelt, Biden Wanted a Fast Start. Now Comes the Hard Part. [“But if Mr. Biden has gotten off to the fastest start of any president since Roosevelt, the speed bumps ahead threaten to drain his momentum.”]
WP: 10 days of struggle: Inside Biden’s early coronavirus vaccine effort [I struggled to find a “main” article about Biden. Much of their coverage focused on the FBI probe of the Capitol riot, how Republicans can’t quit Marjorie Greene Taylor, much COVID coverage]
NPR: Despite Setting A New Tone, Biden Faces Tough Decision On Dealing With Congress
CNN: Biden taps Iran envoy to face challenges of confronting both Tehran and polarized views at home [Again, it was almost impossible to find a “main” story about Biden on CNN’s website. Most coverage still revolves around Trump and the Republican disintegration. See screenshot below.]

Analysis: Media still acknowledges Trump’s chaos. In fact, they still acknowledge it after he’s out of office. Biden is having trouble getting oxygen with U.S. media outlets. It seems no one has learned their lessons from media malpractices between 2015 — today.
