Daily Comparison of Media Coverage: Trump v. Biden
February 8, 2017 — Coverage of Trump
NYT: Trump Says Nordstrom Treated His Daughter ‘So Unfairly’; Fireworks Before Final Vote on Jeff Sessions
WP: Trump’s plan to tap private investors for infrastructure funds worries senators from rural states [Interesting to read four years later; no such funds were raised, and it doesn’t seem as if they were ever seriously sought.]
NPR: Trump’s Address To Joint Session Of Congress, Annotated
CNN: Trump stresses ‘close’ relationship with Turkey in first call with Erdogan
February 8, 2021 — Coverage of Biden
NYT: A Longtime Delaware Resident Commutes Home. A Few Things Have Changed. [NB: this was the only article in the entire Monday Times that focused on Biden, hard as that may be to believe. Same on their website.]
WP: Biden works hard to suggest he’s not paying attention to Trump’s impeachment trial
NPR: Biden Administration Proposes $130 Billion To Help Schools Reopen
CNN: Democrats unveil $3,000 child benefit as part of Biden relief package
Analysis: Trump ate up tons of real estate in media coverage; today as other days, it was hard to select what seemed to be the chief “Trump” stories of the day. Coverage of Biden many days is near impossible to find. That may be in part his own doing (and in today’s case, it may be more based on the fact that he took the weekend off to return to his hometown and “finish packing”), but it is a stark difference. There is, remarkably, more coverage of Trump (even outside of the impending impeachment trial) than there is of Biden.
What Biden Did Today: Continues to work with congressional leaders to pass COVID relief legislation.
